The album is titled after the controversy about the identity of the inventor of radio. It is posited that Serbian engineer Nikola Tesla (whom the band is named after) is the true inventor of radio, while the Italian Guglielmo Marconi took the credit and is widely regarded as having the title.
The title, The Great Radio Controversy, is a reference to the historic debate over who was the true father of radio, Italian engineer Guglielmo Marconi or Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla, who the band is named after. But there’s no argument that this record, 35 years later, remains one of the very best hard rock albums of a supremely stacked 1989.
The Great Radio Controversy es el segundo álbum de la banda de rock estadounidense Tesla, lanzado al mercado por el sello discográfico Geffen Records el 1 de febrero de 1989. Las canciones combinan metal de los años ochenta con algunos elementos del blues, así como Power ballad.
En el caso de Tesla no hay duda de que sus tres primeros discos son los mejores y es, para mí, en este The Great Radio Controversy donde encontramos a los Tesla más inspirados. Se trata de un disco perfecto, sin fisuras y donde no sobra absolutamente nada.
