Ayako Wakao (若尾 文子, Wakao Ayako, November 8, 1933 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese actress who was one of the country's biggest stars of the 20th century. [1] Biography. Wakao began her career contracted to Daiei Studios in 1951 as part of the fifth "New Face" group.

若尾 文子 （わかお あやこ、本名：黒川 文子、 1933年 〈 昭和 8年〉 11月8日 [1] - ）は、 日本 の 女優 。 夫は 建築家 の 黒川紀章 。 来歴・人物. 5歳のとき. 東京府 東京市 荒川区 （現： 東京都 荒川区 ）に5人兄姉の末っ子に生れ育つ。 第二次大戦 中は父親の仕事の関係で 宮城県 仙台市 に疎開していた。 宮城県第二女子高等学校（現・ 宮城県仙台二華高等学校 ）中退。 文子は1951年に 大映 の第5期ニューフェイスとして映画界入り。 1952年、急病で倒れた 久我美子 の代役として、 小石栄一 監督の『死の街を脱れて』で銀幕デビュー。 翌1953年に映画『十代の性典』がヒット作となり [2] 、マスコミから性典女優と酷評されるも知名度は急上昇した。

Wakao Ayako is a Japaneses actress. She has appeared in over 100 films and won a handful of Best Actress awards. During the 50s and 60s, she starred alongside Daiei’s most famous actors in many of the studios biggest movies, including 20 films from maverick director Yasuzo MASUMURA.
