Djimon Gaston Hounsou (/ ˈ dʒ aɪ m ən ˈ uː n s uː /, JY-mən OON-soo; French: [dʒimɔ̃ unsu]; born April 24, 1964) is a Beninese-American actor. Born in Cotonou and raised there and in France, Hounsou began his career modeling and appearing in music videos, before making his film debut in Without You I'm Nothing (1990).
