George Barbier fue un ilustrador, diseñador teatral y pintor francés, más conocido por sus obras de moda en publicaciones francesas durante el periodo Art Déco. Estudió en la École des beaux-arts cuando se trasladó a París desde Nantes entre 1908 y 1910. El maestro de Barbier fue Jean-Paul Laurens, un pintor de historia académica.
