Jan Huyghen van Linschoten (o Huijgen) ( Haarlem, ca. 1563 - Enkhuizen, 8 de febrero de 1611) fue un comerciante protestante neerlandés, marino, espía, viajero e historiador.
Jan Huygen van Linschoten (1563 – 8 February 1611) was a Dutch spy, merchant, traveller and writer. He travelled extensively along the East Indies regions under Portuguese influence and served as the archbishop's secretary in Goa between 1583 and 1588.

It contained a section called the Reys-gheschrift, which was the first nautical compendium to include sailing routes on the earth’s three main oceans. This publication enabled the Dutch and the English to launch successful maritime strategies.

Jan Huyghen van Linschoten was a Dutch traveler and propagandist who served in Portuguese Goa (India), sailed with Willem Barents, and wrote an influential description of Asian trade routes. As bookkeeper to the archbishop of Goa, Linschoten spent six years (1583–89) in India.
