William Douglas Sloane (February 29, 1844 – March 19, 1915) [1] was an American businessman, sportsman, philanthropist, and member of New York society during the Gilded Age. [2] Early life. William Douglas Sloane was born at Mulwala, New South Wales in 1890. He enlisted on 2nd October, 1916 as a 26 year old Motor Engineer from Mulwala. He embarked from Melbourne on 25th October, 1916 with the 2nd Australian Flying Squadron “B” Flight.

William Douglas Sloane (1883–1884) Malcolm Douglas Vanderbilt Sloane (1885–1924), who married Elinor Lee. The family lived at the Vanderbilt Triple Palace on Fifth Avenue in New York City. In 1920, after Sloane's death, she married Henry White (1850–1927), American Ambassador to France and Italy, and a signatory of the Treaty of Versailles. [8] [9]
