Colonel Robert Bolling (December 26, 1646 – July 17, 1709) was an English-born merchant, planter, politician and military officer.

Robert Bolling, "of Kippax," was born on 26 December 1646 and baptized on 26 January 1646/7 at the parish church of All Hallows Barking (also known as All Hallows by the Tower), City of London. [2] He was a son of John Bolling [3] and his wife, Mary Carie, a widow, maiden name unknown. [4]

22 de dic. de 2021 · Robert Bolling was a poet, a member of the House of Burgesses (1761–1765), the sheriff of Buckingham County, and a member of the county court (1761–1775). Trained as a lawyer, he nearly fought a duel with William Byrd (1728–1777), a judge on the General Court, when Bolling accused the judges of bias in a murder case.
Robert Bolling was an acquaintance of Thomas Jefferson and a fellow agitator for revolution against Britain. In his ceaseless ambition and violent hatred of the British and of the ruling clique in Virginia, Bolling seems to resemble the ferocious young revolutionaries of Robespierre's France.
