Pietro Rugolo (December 25, 1915 – October 16, 2011), known professionally as Pete Rugolo, [1] was an American jazz composer, arranger, and record producer . Life and career. Pete Rugolo. Composer: Run for Your Life. One of the great arrangers of the Big Band era, Sicilian-born Peter Rugolo was five years old when his family moved to Santa Rosa, California. He attended San Francisco College and in the 1930's studied composition under the classical composer Darius Milhaud.

He started his musical career playing the baritone, like his father, but he quickly branched out into other instruments, notably the French horn and the piano.
