Hans Abrahamsen (born 23 December 1952) is a Danish composer born in Kongens Lyngby near Copenhagen. His Let me tell you (2013), a song cycle for soprano and orchestra, was ranked by music critics at The Guardian as the finest work of the 21st-century. [1] .
Resonant with the western tradition in all its facets, with ancient folk melody, with nature, with the vibrant structure of sound itself, the music of Hans Abrahamsen yet has the freshness of something untouched – untouched, and touching by being so.

Hans Werner Henze rarely conducted contemporary composers – other than himself. There was an astonishing exception in March 1982, when he conducted a concert programme with not just one but two orchestral pieces by Hans Abrahamsen: “Befreiung”, later renamed “Nacht und Trompeten”, and “Stratifications”, written in 1975.
