During World War I, Rădescu fought in the Romanian army and in the 1920s served as military attaché in London.
A highly decorated general, former prime minster of Romania, and chief of general staf during the last years of the Second World War, the leader of the Romanian opposition who ended up in exile, banished from political life. He died on ‘other shores’, alone, and in poverty.
