Captain Richard Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquess of Hertford KG (22 February 1800 – 25 August 1870) was an English aristocrat and sometime politician who spent his life in France devoted to collecting art.
Marquess of Hertford. The titles of Earl of Hertford and Marquess of Hertford have been created several times in the peerages of England and Great Britain . The third Earldom of Hertford was created in 1559 for Edward Seymour, who was simultaneously created Baron Beauchamp of Hache.
Sir Richard held the title of Lord Yarmouth; he succeeded his father as Marquess of Hertford in 1842. He also took his father's post in the House of Lords, voting with the Conservative party. Seymour-Conway was attached to the embassy in Paris in 1817, and in 1829, the embassy at Constantinople.
