  4. The 3rd Duke died in France in 1752 and his widow, who married General Staats Long Morris, lived on until 1799. Alexander Gordon was born at Gordon Castle in 1743 and succeeded his father as 4th Duke of Gordon. He was educated at Eton and afterwards entered the Army, becoming a Colonel in 1793.
