Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (28 September 1822 – 13 September 1865), styled Lord Glamis between 1834 and 1846, was a Scottish peer and cricketer. Background. Lyon-Bowes was the eldest surviving son of Thomas Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis, son of Thomas Bowes-Lyon, 11th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne.
Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1822–1865) – grandson of the 11th Earl. Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1824–1904) – brother of the 12th Earl, created Baron Bowes in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1887.
They had seven children: Thomas Lyon-Bowes (18 October 1821 – 18 October 1821) Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (28 September # 1822 – 13 September 1865) Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (21 July 1824 – 16 February 1904), ancestor of Queen Elizabeth II.

Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis (6 February 1801 – 27 January 1834). He was the father of Thomas Lyon-Bowes, Master of Glamis , Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne , and Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne .
On the death of the 10th Earl in 1820 the Bowes estates in the north of England passed to a natural son, John Bowes, but on the latter's death in 1885 they reverted to his cousin, the 13th Earl. Smaller English estates were acquired through the marriage of the 8th Earl to Jean Nicholson of Hetton and West Rainton (Co. Durham) in 1753, and of the 11th Earl to Mary Carpenter of Redbourn ...
