Lieutenant General Hugh Percy, 2nd Duke of Northumberland KG FRS (14 August 1742 – 10 July 1817) was an officer in the British army and later a British peer.
Hugh, earl Percy (1742-1817): Politician and Soldier. Hugh, earl Percy was thus actually born Hugh Smithson in August 1742. He became Hugh Percy on his father’s ennoblement and name change in 1750 and, as was then customary, he was styled after his father’s second title (baron Warkworth).
