John Gilbert Winant OM (February 23, 1889 – November 3, 1947) was an American diplomat and politician with the Republican party after a brief career as a teacher in Concord, New Hampshire. John Winant held positions in New Hampshire, national, and international politics.
John G Winant Jr served as a pilot with the 390th Bomb Group. His father, John G Winant, was US Ambassador to Britain between 1941-1946. Winant was shot down on 10-Oct-43 in B-17 42-30262 'Tech Supply' and taken as a Prisoner of War (POW).
