  4. George William Campbell, 6th Duke of Argyll. Born: 22 Sep 1766. Married: 29 Nov 1810 Lady Caroline Elizabeth Paget (former wife of Henry William [Paget], 1st Marquess of Anglesey; d. 16 Jun 1835), 3rd dau. of George Bussey [Villiers], 4th Earl of Jersey, by his wife Frances Twisden, only dau. and hrss. of Rt Rev Philip Twisden DD, Bishop of Raphoe.

  5. George Campbell, 6th Duke of Argyll added a white line to his tartan to distinguish himself as the clan chief. He was the only member of the family to do so, but the tartan has persisted as "Campbell of Argyll" which, as with any other tartan not listed above, is not recognized as official by the clan.
