  4. General John Campbell, 4th Duke of Argyll was born circa 1693. He was the son of Hon. John Campbell and Elizabeth Elphinstone. He married Hon. Mary Bellenden, daughter of John Bellenden, 2nd Lord Bellenden of Broughton and Lady Mary Moore, in 1720. He died on 9 November 1770 at London, England. [1] He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1712.
