26 de may. de 2024 · Throughout its history, St. Mary‘s City was home to a number of notable individuals who played key roles in shaping the destiny of Maryland and the broader Chesapeake region. Perhaps the most famous of these was Leonard Calvert, the younger brother of Lord Baltimore and the first governor of Maryland.
31 de may. de 2024 · Beginning in 1664, Calvert's heir, Leonard Calvert, began subdividing this claim and issuing title to various sized parcels to buyers. On September 24, 1685, Andrew Clarke purchased from Calvert 500 acres (2,000,000 m 2) of land fronting on the Anacostia River.
