Sophia Charlotte von Kielmansegg, Countess of Darlington and Countess of Leinster (1675–1725) was a German-born courtier. A half-sister of George I of Great Britain, to whom she was close, she moved to England in 1714 shortly after the Hanoverian succession, where she became an influential figure of his court. [1]
4 de abr. de 2024 · Sophia Charlotte, Countess of Darlington, was buried in the vault of the Duke of Ormond at the east end of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey on 24th April 1725. In the 19th century her name was inscribed on the stone above the vault with the many others buried there.

Her mother Charlotte Sophia, Countess of Darlington (1675–1725), wife of Johann Adolph, Baron von Kielmansegg, was the half-sister George I of Great Britain, (reigned 1714 - 26). Sophia von Platen von Kielmansegg, Countess of Darlington has often, but erroneously, been asserted to have been mistress of King George I of Great Britain and Ireland; in fact, she was his half-sister.
