Edward England ( c. 1685 –1721) [1] [2] was an Irish pirate. The ships he sailed on included the Pearl (which he renamed The Royal James) and later the Fancy, for which England exchanged the Pearl in 1720.

Captain England’s successful but brief pirate career came to an end when he was marooned by his crew on the island of Mauritius in 1720.

Edward England (1685 - 1721) was a famous pirate for originally being part of the group of pirates that assaulted the sunken 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet and later established the Republic of Pirates based out of Nassau on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas along with his partner Benjamin Hornigold.
