Luc Urbain du Bouëxic, comte de Guichen (June 21, 1712, Fougères, Ille-et-Vilaine – January 13, 1790, Morlaix) was a French admiral who commanded the French fleets that fought the British at the First Battle of Ushant (1778) and the Battle of Martinique (1780) during the American War of Independence.
Luc Urbain du Bouëxic, comte de Guichen, né à Fougères, le 21 juin 1712 et mort à Morlaix le 13 janvier 1790 1, est un officier de marine et gentilhomme français du XVIIIe siècle. Entré dans la Marine royale à l'âge de 18 ans, il est promu enseigne de vaisseau en 1735 et se distingue en 1739 à l'attaque d'une frégate anglaise dans les Antilles.

Born at Fougères, he entered the naval service as garde-marine in 1730, was promoted to ship's ensign in 1735, served in the Atlantic and English Channel during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740–1748), and became ship's lieutenant in 1746 and ship's captain in 1756.
