Ona "Oney" Judge Staines (c. 1773 – February 25, 1848) was a slave owned by the Washington family, first at the family's plantation at Mount Vernon and later, after George Washington became president, at the President's House in Philadelphia, then the nation's capital city.
Oney (born c. 1773) was a dower slave, the daughter of Betty, a seamstress, and Andrew Judge, a white English tailor who was an indentured servant at Mount Vernon in the early 1770s. Austin, about fifteen years Oney's senior, would have been her half-brother.
Staines’s account of her dramatic quest for freedom represents a rare moment when the voice of a person (formerly) enslaved at Mount Vernon appears in the historical record. Ona Judge, often referenced by the Washingtons as Oney, was born at Mount Vernon around 1774.

Washington moved into the President's House in November 1790. He initially brought 8 enslaved Africans from Mount Vernon — Oney Judge, Austin, Hercules, Richmond, Moll, Christopher Sheels, Giles, Paris — who worked alongside 16 white servants.
