  5. Hace 4 días · Army surgeon Martin Leake was the first to achieve this extraordinary distinction. He won his first Victoria Cross during the Boer War and the second in 1914 for rescuing a large number of the wounded who were lying close to the enemy's trenches, while exposed to constant fire.
