Andries Bicker (14 September 1586 – 24 June 1652) was a prominent burgomaster (mayor) of Amsterdam, politician and diplomat in the Dutch Republic. He was a member of the Bicker family, who governed the city of Amsterdam and with it the province of Holland for about half a century.

27 de may. de 2024 · Andries Bicker, a merchant in Russia and dealer in spices, wielded enormous administrative power. He was elected mayor of Amsterdam ten times, represented the city in the States-General, and served as ambassador to the Scandinavian nations, Poland and the Duchy of Brandenburg.
Bicker (1622–1666), the drost of Muiden, who immediately left for Amsterdam to inform his uncle, burgemeester Cornelis Bicker. The latter and former burgemeester Andries Bicker rallied the city guard , hired 2,000 mercenaries, lifted the bridges, closed the gates and positioned the artillery.
The Bicker brothers had a firm grip on world trade, trading on the East, the West, the North and the Mediterranean. Andries' uncle Laurens Bicker was one of the first to trade on Guinea and seized four Portuguese ships in 1604.
