  1. Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Berkshire (8 October 1587 – 16 July 1669) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1605 and 1622. He was created Earl of Berkshire in 1626.

  2. He was the second son of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk, second son of the second marriage of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk. His mother was Katherine, daughter of Sir Henry Knyvett of Charlton in Wiltshire.

  4. Although Berkshire was well enough to dine on 4 June 1669 at the home of Henry Bennet, Baron (later earl of) Arlington, with John Evelyn and others, he died on 16 July and was buried in Westminster Abbey four days later .41 He was succeeded by his eldest son as 2nd earl of Berkshire.
