Themistoklis Sofoulis or Sophoulis (Greek: Θεμιστοκλής Σοφούλης; 1860– 24 June 1949) was a prominent centrist Greek politician from Samos Island, belonging to the centre-left wing of the Liberal Party, which he led for many years.
Themistoklis Sofoulis led Greece from 1945 to April 4, 1946, but he lost the 1946 legislative elections to Konstantinos Tsaldaris’ People’s Party. On September 7, 1947, he became prime minister in a Liberal-Party People’s coalition.
Nonetheless, he soon decided to resign in favor of Themistoklis Sophoulis, who led a government of national unity (conservative and centre-liberal forces) during the entire second phase of the civil war (1946–1949).
