Abraham Calovius (kəlō´vēəs), 1612–86, German Lutheran theologian, whose original name was Kalan or Calan. He was (1637–43) a professor of theology at Königsberg, then pastor at Danzig, and after 1650 teacher, general superintendent, and finally dean of the theological faculty at Wittenberg.
