Rana Sangram Singh I (c. 12 April 1482 – 30 January 1528), popularly known as Rana Sanga, was the Maharana of Mewar from 1508 to 1528 CE. Belonging to the Sisodia Rajput dynasty, through his capable leadership, he transformed the Kingdom of Mewar into the most powerful state in northern India in the early 16th century. [2]

After the death of Rana Raimal (son of Maharana Kumbha) who ruled Mewar from 1473 to 1508, there was an intense battle for the throne of Mewar.
Maharana Sangram Singh, commonly known as Rana Sanga, was the ruler of Mewar and one of the most prominent Rajput leaders in the 16th century India. He belonged to Sisodiya clan of Rajput and ruled between 1508 and 1528.
In 1520 A.D. Rana Sanga led a coalition of Rajput armies to invade Gujarat. He reinstated Raimal Rathore as the Rao of Idar and defeated the Gujarat forces under the command of Nizam Khan. Rana Sanga drove the army of Muzaffar II deep into Gujarat and chased them up to Ahmedabad. [1]

He engaged with Sanga in two major battles when he realized Sanga had been encroaching on land in the Sultanate. The sultan was defeated at Khatoli and Dholpur; as a result, Sanga was able to capture the entire North-East Rajputana up to Chanderi.
