Prince Frederick of Württemberg (German: Friedrich Karl August Prinz von Württemberg) (21 February 1808 – 9 May 1870) was a German prince from House of Württemberg, a general in the Army of Württemberg and the father of William II of Württemberg.
Frederick I ( German: Friedrich Wilhelm Karl; 6 November 1754 – 30 October 1816) was the ruler of Württemberg from 1797 to his death. He was the last Duke of Württemberg from 1797 to 1803, then the first and only Elector of Württemberg from 1803 to 1806, before raising Württemberg to a kingdom in 1806 with the approval of Napoleon I.
William I ( German: Friedrich Wilhelm Karl; 27 September 1781 – 25 June 1864) was King of Württemberg from 30 October 1816 until his death. Upon William's accession, Württemberg was suffering crop failures and famine in the "Year Without a Summer", in 1816.
He assumed the title Elector of Württemberg on 25 February 1803. Subjected to a charm offensive in the late summer of 1805, the ducal couple were seduced by Napoleon into joining his coalition against Russia, Austria and Britain.
She wed Charles William Frederick, Hereditary Prince of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel (1735-1806), later Charles II Duke of Brunswick, on 16 January 1764.
Frederick, Hereditary Prince of Württemberg, later Duke of Württemberg, and Frederick I, King of Württemberg (1805), was the eldest son of Duke Frederick Eugene of Württemberg and Frederica, daughter of Frederick, Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt.
Friedrich (1754–1816) succeeded in elevating Württemberg during the troubled years between the French Revolution and Napoleon's rule: from duchy to electorate and finally to kingdom.
