Frederick William (III), Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel (German: Friedrich Wilhelm Nikolaus Karl, 15 October 1854 – 14 October 1888) was (titular) Elector of Hesse-Kassel.
Frederick William George Adolphus, Landgrave of Hesse (German: Friedrich Wilhelm Georg Adolf von Hessen-Kassel; 26 November 1820 – 14 October 1884) was the only son of Wilhelm I, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel-Rumpenheim and Princess Louise Charlotte of Denmark.
After the War of the Thuringian Succession upon the death of Landgrave Henry Raspe in 1247, his niece Duchess Sophia of Brabant secured the Hessian possessions for her minor son Henry the Child, who would become the first landgrave of Hesse and founder of the House of Hesse in 1246.
Founder of the Order of the Seraphim and the Order of the Sword and the Order of the Polar Star in 1748. Married firstly Luise Dorothea of Prussia (1680 – 1705) daughter of Frederick I, King in Prussia and secondly Ulrika Eleonora (1688 – 1741) Queen regnant of Sweden.

Frederick William (born Aug. 20, 1802—died Jan. 6, 1875, Prague) was the elector of Hesse-Kassel from 1847 after 16 years’ co-regency with his father; he was noted for his reactionary stand against liberalizing trends manifested during the revolutionary events of 1848.
Frederick William (III) Nicholas Charles of Hesse-Kassel (born 15 October 1854 in Copenhagen – died: 14 October 1888 at sea between Batavia and Singapore) was (titular) Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel. He was the eldest son of Frederick William George Adolph of Hesse-Kassel-Rumpenheim and his second wife Princess Anna of Prussia.
