In 1511 Duke John III of Cleves inherited Jülich and Berg through marriage with Maria of Jülich-Berg, the daughter of the last Duke, William IV. She inherited her father's estates: Jülich and Berg with the County of Ravensberg .

When Maria von Jülich-Berg was born on 3 August 1491, in Herzogtum Jülich-Berg, Holy Roman Empire, her father, Wilhelm IV. von Jülich-Berg, was 36 and her mother, Sibylle von Hohenzollern, was 24. She married Johann III Herzog von Jülich-Kleve-Berg on 1 October 1510.
21 de jun. de 2019 · Wilhelm and Sibylle had one child together, Maria of Jülich-Berg, born 3 August 1491. Wilhelm may have had an illegitimate son named Johann of Jülich, as well. The marriage with Sibylle, daughter of the Elector of Brandenburg was a grand affair.
11 de dic. de 2016 · On 11 December 1581, Maria of Austria, Duchess of Jülich-Kleve-Berg, passed away at Hambach Castle. Maria began her life on 15 May 1531 in Prague, where she was welcomed as the third daughter and fifth of what would be fifteen children from the marriage of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Anna Jagiello of Bohemia and Hungary.
