In the north, Ṭahmāsp II—the representative of the ousted Ṣafavid dynasty—controlled the provinces of Māzandarān and Gīlān. In 1727 Ashraf negotiated a treaty with the Ottomans, accepting their annexation of western Iran; in return the Ottomans recognized Ashraf as ruler of Iran.
6 de ene. de 2024 · Tahmasp II was one of the last Safavid rulers of Persia . Tahmasp was the son of Soltan Hoseyn, the Shah of Iran at the time. When Soltan Hoseyn was forced to abdicate by the Afghans in 1722, Prince Tahmasp wished to claim the throne.
The restoration of Tahmasp II to the Safavid throne took place in the latter part of 1729 by a series of battles fought between Nader, Tahmasp's commander-in-chief and Ashraf Hotaki.
