Carlos XVI Gustavo de Suecia (nacido Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus Bernadotte; Solna, provincia de Estocolmo; 30 de abril de 1946) es el rey de Suecia desde su ascenso al trono tras la muerte de su abuelo paterno, el rey Gustavo VI Adolfo, el 15 de septiembre de 1973.
2003: his paternal grandfather's first cousin Carl died, and Carl Gustaf formally recognized his Belgian title by allowing Prince Carl Bernadotte on the gravestone at the Royal Cemetery which is owned by the king; in 2014 he did the same there, allowing Carl's widow's name as Princess Kristine Bernadotte when she died.
The House of Bernadotte is the royal family of Sweden, founded there in 1818 by King Charles XIV John of Sweden. It was also the royal family of Norway between 1818 and 1905. Its founder was born in Pau in southern France as Jean Bernadotte.

A patrilineal member of the House of Bernadotte, Gustaf Adolf was also descended from the House of Vasa through maternal lines. Through his mother, he was a descendant of Gustav IV Adolf of the House of Holstein-Gottorp.
