David Bryant Mumford (born 11 June 1937) is an American mathematician known for his work in algebraic geometry and then for research into vision and pattern theory. He won the Fields Medal and was a MacArthur Fellow. In 2010 he was awarded the National Medal of Science.
Specifically, I discuss the evolution of language models and the quest for human-level AI, the scientific dimensions of consciousness, the elusive nature of "now" in consciousness, and the enigma of so-called cat-states in quantum theory.
7 de jun. de 2024 · David Mumford, British-born mathematician who was awarded the Fields Medal in 1974 for his work in algebraic geometry. In some of his early work, Mumford took up David Hilbert’s theory of invariants and applied it to new geometric problems couched in Alexandre Grothendieck’s theory of schemes.
