Ann C. Wolbert Burgess [a] (born October 2, 1936) is an American researcher whose work has focused on developing ways to assess and treat trauma in rape victims. She is a professor at the William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College . Career. Burgess is a doctorally-prepared, board-certified psychiatric clinical nurse specialist.

Dr. Burgess has testified as an expert witness in 30 states and has received grant and published articles on the topics of rape trauma, child sexual abuse, child pornography, serial offenders, crime classification, post-traumatic stress, elder abuse, and mental disorders.
