Toni Ebel (Berlín, 10 de noviembre de 1881-9 de junio de 1961) fue una pintora alemana, empleada de limpieza del Institut für Sexualwissenschaft y una de las primeras mujeres trans en someterse a una cirugía de reasignación de sexo, posiblemente antes que Lili Elbe.

28 de jun. de 2023 · Toni Ebel’s Cause of Death Was Never Revealed. Even though Toni was 11 years older than Charlotte — born in 1881 as the eldest of 11 in an evangelical family in Berlin — her transitioning journey only began once she came across the latter.
In an interview Toni Ebel gave to the 12 o'clock paper in 1932, she confessed that she had a boyfriend. She liked him very much and would also like to marry him, if only he had a permanent job. Besides, she "hated" "feminine" men, and her boyfriend was "strong and bearded" '.
Toni Ebel is considered one of the pioneers in the representation of trans* identities in 20th century art. She went her way courageously and self-determined: around 1930 she underwent gender reassignment operations in Berlin and converted to Judaism, the faith of her partner, in 1933.
18 de may. de 2023 · Toni Ebel converted to Judaism in early 1933, but reversed the conversion as the pressure of persecution increased. After 1945 she was recognised in the GDR as a victim of fascism. Ebel was able to start a new life as a painter.
