Michael Ayrton (20 February 1921 – 16 November 1975) was a British painter, printmaker, sculptor, critic, broadcaster and novelist. His sculptures, illustrations, poems and stories often focused on the subjects of flight, myths, mirrors and mazes.

20 de oct. de 2021 · This year marks the centenary of the artist Michael Ayrton (1921–1975), whose paintings, drawings and sculptures challenged both traditional and contemporary expectations and brought him controversy and admiration in roughly equal measure.
Painter and sculptor of imaginative and mythological subjects, theatre designer, illustrator, broadcaster, writer and critic. He was born in London as Michael Ayrton Gould, son of the poet and critic Gerald Gould and Barbara Ayrton, feminist and prominent member of the Labour Party. Eventually Ayrton changed his name by deed poll.
