Barry Edward O'Meara (1786–1836), born in Newtown House, Newtown-on-Sea (now known as Blackrock), Dublin, was an Irish surgeon and founding member of the Reform Club, who accompanied Napoleon to Saint Helena and became his physician, having been surgeon on board the Bellerophon when the emperor surrendered himself.

O'Meara, Barry Edward (1786?–1836), surgeon and physician to Napoleon on St Helena, was born in Ireland, son of Jeremiah O'Meara, solicitor, and his wife, the sister of Edmund Murphy, MA, of TCD. Various sources give his year of birth as 1770, 1778, or 1786, but it is now thought that the last date is the most likely.
O'Meara, Barry Edward, Dr., surgeon to Napoleon Bonaparte at St. Helena, was born in Ireland in 1770, educated at Trinity College, and at an early age appointed Assistant-Surgeon to the 62nd Regiment. He served for some years in Sicily, Egypt, and Calabria.
