Gratien Gélinas, CC CQ FRSC (December 8, 1909 – March 16, 1999) was a Canadian writer, playwright, actor, director, producer and administrator who is considered one of the founders of modern Canadian theatre and film. His major works include Tit-Coq (1948), Bousille et les Justes (1959), and Hier, les enfants dansaient (1968).
Gratien Gélinas (né le 8 décembre 1909 à Saint-Tite et mort le 16 mars 1999 à Oka) est un acteur, dramaturge et producteur québécois. Créateur des personnages de Fridolin, Tit-Coq et Bousille, il est également le fondateur de la Comédie Canadienne.

The multiple activities of Gélinas - actor, director, producer, playwright - laid the base for contemporary Québec theatre.
