Helen Herron Taft Manning (August 1, 1891 – February 21, 1987) was an American professor of history and college dean. She was the middle child and only daughter of U.S. President William Howard Taft and his wife Helen Herron .

The primary family member who helped re-teach her mother to speak properly, Helen Taft greatly influenced the First Lady. Her superior academic skills earned her a scholarship at Bryn Mawr; it a point of pride for Nellie Taft.
After the First Lady’s stroke, teenaged Helen served as White House hostess, assisting her father in serving full suppers rather than the frail buffets customarily offered at the end of receiving lines.
