Lieutenant-Commander Alan Brookman Beddoe, OC, OBE, HFHS, FHSC (June 1, 1893 – December 2, 1975) was a Canadian artist, war artist, consultant in heraldry and founder and first president of the Heraldry Society of Canada in 1965. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1893, he studied at Ashbury College.
Alan Brookman Beddoe, OC, OBE, OStJ, FRHSC: Lieutenant-Commander Beddoe was born in Ottawa in June 1893. He died in Blackburn Hamlet, Ontario on 2 December, 1975. He was educated at Ashbury College, Ottawa and except for his service in the Grerat War, lived in the Ottawa area his entire life.
A former lieutenant-commander in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War, Alan Beddoe was a graphic artist and heraldic expert. He was frequently called upon to advise the Government of Canada on heraldic matters and was the principal heraldic expert and design consultant to the flag selection committee in 1964.
