Charles Louis, Elector Palatine ( German: Karl I. Ludwig; 22 December 1617 – 28 August 1680), was the second son of Frederick V of the Palatinate, the "Winter King" of Bohemia, and of Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia and sister of Charles I of England .

Charles Louis, Elector Palatine ( German: Karl I. Ludwig; 22 December 1617 – 28 August 1680), was the second son of Frederick V of the Palatinate, the "Winter King" of Bohemia, and of Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia and sister of Charles I of England.
His eldest surviving son Charles Louis was restored to the electorate in 1648 under the Peace of Westphalia. Another son was Prince Rupert of the Rhine, one of the most colourful figures of his time.
By the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, Charles Louis was restored to the Lower Palatinate, and given a new electoral title, also called "Elector Palatine", but lower in precedence than the other electorates.
20 de feb. de 2024 · 4 In 1636, Charles I Louis, the Prince Elector Palatine (1618-80), the second, but oldest surviving son of Frederick V (1596-1632) and the nephew of Charles I (1600-49), represented the claim of the Palatine Wittelsbachs to his father’s electoral dignities and lands, then held by Maximilian I, duke of Bavaria (1573-1651) and Spain.
