La glucoproteína de la espícula, más conocida como proteína de la espícula [1] [2] [3] (en inglés: spike protein, S), antes conocida como E2, [4] es la más grande de las cuatro principales proteínas estructurales que se encuentran en los coronavirus. [5]
The spike protein is very large, often 1200 to 1400 amino acid residues long; it is 1273 residues in SARS-CoV-2. It is a single-pass transmembrane protein with a short C-terminal tail on the interior of the virus, a transmembrane helix, and a large N-terminal ectodomain exposed on the virus exterior.
Coronaviruses exhibit coronavirus spike protein, also known as the S protein, on their surfaces; S is a class I fusion protein and is responsible for mediating viral entry as the first step in viral infection. It is highly antigenic and accounts for most antibodies produced by the immune system in response to infection.
14 de jun. de 2021 · As a predominant focus, coronavirus spike (S) protein plays an essential role in coronavirus infection, pathogenicity, transmission, and evolution. 1 Changes in just a few residues around the spike protein can dramatically affect the infectivity, tropism, and pathogenesis of the virus. 2, 3, 4 Furthermore, potential adaptive mutations in the SAR...
