Her father was Johan George II of Anhalt-Dessau. Henriette Amalia married her cousin Hendrik (Henry) Casimir II, stadtholder of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe. Hendrik Casimir was often in conflict with his cousin, King-Stadtholder Willem III of Orange.
