Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, KG, KB ( c. 1538 – 19 January 1601) was an English peer and politician. He was the nephew of Catherine Parr and brother-in-law of Lady Jane Grey through his first wife. Life. Arms of 2nd Earl of Pembroke as recorded by York Herald, 1620. William Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke (5 March 1451 – 16 July 1491) was an English nobleman and politician. Early life. He was the son of William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke and Anne Devereux.
Herbert was probably the richest and most powerful man in late sixteenth-century Wales. He was a courtier, and his dress and pose reflect his aristocratic status. He was appointed Lord President of the Council of Wales in 1586.
