Innere Stadt is the central district of Vienna. It borders Leopoldstadt in the northeast, Landstraße in the east, Wieden and Mariahilf in the south, Neubau and Josefstadt in the west, and Alsergrund in the north.
Die Innere Stadt ist der 1. Gemeindebezirk und gleichzeitig Teil des historischen Kerns der österreichischen Bundeshauptstadt Wien . Bis zu den ersten Eingemeindungen 1850 war der Bezirksteil innerhalb der Ringstraße auch größtenteils deckungsgleich mit dem Stadtgebiet.

The Albertina is a museum in the Innere Stadt (First District) of Vienna, Austria. It houses one of the largest and most important print rooms in the world with approximately 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million old master prints, as well as more modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings.

Innere Stadt is the inner-most district of Vienna. Its historic centre dates back to Roman ages and has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is encircled by the Ring Road (Ringstraße), a grand boulevard constructed along the old city walls, which were torn down starting in 1858.
