Köthen (Anhalt) (1885–1927 amtlich Cöthen) ist die Kreisstadt des sachsen-anhaltischen Landkreises Anhalt-Bitterfeld. Der Begründer der Homöopathie Samuel Hahnemann wirkte hier viele Jahre, und der homöopathische Weltärzteverband hat in Köthen seinen Sitz.
It is the capital of the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt, about 30 km (19 mi) north of Halle. Köthen is the location of the main campus and the administrative centre of the regional university, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences /Hochschule Anhalt which is especially strong in information technology.
