Köthen ( [ˈkøːtn̩] ⓘ) [3] is a town in Germany. It is the capital of the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt, about 30 km (19 mi) north of Halle .
Köthen (Anhalt) (1885–1927 amtlich Cöthen) ist die Kreisstadt des sachsen-anhaltischen Landkreises Anhalt-Bitterfeld. Der Begründer der Homöopathie Samuel Hahnemann wirkte hier viele Jahre, und der homöopathische Weltärzteverband hat in Köthen seinen Sitz. Deswegen wird die Stadt gelegentlich als Welthauptstadt der Homöopathie bezeichnet.
