The Löwenburg, a pseudo-medieval ruin in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, was built to emphasise the long reign of the family of Hesse-Kassel, and was actually completed in 1801.
Above Wilhelmshöhe Palace, in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, lies the artificial castle ruin of Löwenburg. After a long period of renovation, the baroque pleasure palace can be visited again.

We are talking about Löwenburg Castle, one of the many gems of Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel, which is going to reopen after comprehensive restoration works on 15 July 2022. Built at the end of the 18th century by Elector Wilhelm I, he pursued one goal: Löwenburg Castle was to display the power and endurance of the House of Hesse.
Oberhalb von Schloss Wilhelmshöhe, inmitten des UNESCO‐Welterbes Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, liegt die künstliche Burgruine der Löwenburg. Nach einer langen Renovierungsphase ist das barocke Lustschloss wieder zu besichtigen.
