Leer is a district (Landkreis) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the northwest and clockwise) the city of Emden, the districts of Aurich, Wittmund, Friesland, Ammerland, Cloppenburg and Emsland, and by the Netherlands (Province of Groningen).
El Distrito de Leer (Landkreis Leer) es un Landkreis ubicado en el noroeste de Baja Sajonia y sobre el que hace contacto territorial Frisia Oriental. Limita al norte con la ciudad de distrito libre ( kreisfreie Stadt ) de Emden en el distrito de Aurich así como el distrito de Wittmund y Friesland .
With 34,958 inhabitants (2021), it is the third-largest city in East Frisia after Emden and Aurich . It has a railway and autobahn connection to Groningen, Netherlands, Emden, Bremen and the South ( Rheine and the Ruhr industrial region).
Leer is een Landkreis in de Duitse deelstaat Nedersaksen. De Landkreis telt 171.483 inwoners (31 december 2020) op een oppervlakte van 1.085,71 km². Op 31 december 2020 had 8,86% van de inwoners een niet-Duits staatsburgerschap (15.200 niet-Duitsers) en hadden 3.060 inwoners het Nederlandse staatsburgerschap.
